Technically you wouldn't have to have this, you could mess around with hot ladles of jam and syrups without it and waste your hard work so get one. It will last forever.

Lightweight, yet very durable and well-made. Works on lots of sizes (of larger and mason) jars; use it with great results in bulk department at Whole Foods and putting things in jars at home. Wonderful product!
